Today’s post is one I am really excited about! I am collabing with the wonderful Oregonian Erin, a lifestyle and beauty blogger. Her and I both received our BoxyCharm boxes and she already did an unboxing which you can read here. So today we are going to be creating a look using some of the products we received & reviewing them.
My box included the Glam Metals by Crown, brow powder pencil by IT Cosmetics, a luminizing primer by Dr. Brandt, a bronzer, highlighter, and blush duo by PUR, and last but not least the lip plumper by GrandeLips. Both of us received the same items. I think the lipstick is the only thing Erin and I had that was different.
Okay so let’s start with my least favorites first so we can end on a good note. My absolute least favorite would be the lip plumper. I have never been a fan of anything that makes my lips feel tingly and sticky. I rarely wear a gloss type of lipsticks because I hate the way it feels on my lips. I also did not care for the color. I have ones that are a bright pink with a blue undertone that I like a lot more and that aren’t glossy. After I put it on it didn’t stay on very well either and smeared the color around making it super opaque. I also hated the silicone applicator. I ended up taking it off and using another color.
The next items I didn’t really like were the eyeshadow palette. I really wanted to like them too! I thought there was no pigmentation what so ever. There were 2 shades that were my favorite out of all of them but there is no base color I could use to set the eyeshadow primer. And there were no matte transition shades, I had to softly use one of the shimmers instead. There was quite a bit of fallout after using one of the metal shades on my lid, which normally I don’t mind but this completely crumbled after one swatch.
Moving on to a product that I liked more! The PUR highlighting, bronzing, and blush duo. So this one had ALL shimmer. I never wear shimmery bronzer or blush. The only shimmer I want on my face is either glitter for my eyes or highlighter. The bronzer was also orangy and the blush was a coral color both of which look terrible on my cool skin tone. I did, however, love the highlight, it is a gold glittery shimmer, looks gorgeous on the skin and lasts all day long. The highlighter made the whole duo palette worth it. I kind of wish they sold it separately.
The IT Cosmetics eyebrow powder pencil was probably my favorite thing out of the whole box. I like combining it with my Soap and Glory setting gel, makes my brows stay gorgeous the whole day and no smudges. The brush on the end to comb out my brows to soften up the color is really nice and full. I wish it came in different colors because from what I know there is the only one which is taupe, and I thought taupe was pretty dark.
Last but not least, this pore minimizer which is also a luminizer from Dr. Bandt. Can we talk about the sleek packaging? I like that it isn’t a gel or silicone based primer it has a neutral-tinted color. I think it works really well with the rest of my makeup routine and has no weird smells. Plus I love that it’s a HUGE bottle that will last me a long time.
I did use the primer before putting on my normal foundation/concealer combo. I really did not care for the lipstick so I switched it out for another more spring color from Colourpop. I used 4 of the colors from the metal palette the black, greenish gold, two bottom left ones. I also used the brow powder on my brows (they look so good!) and the highlighter from the PUR palette. I finished the rest of my normal routine and threw on some falsies!
Here is Erin’s look she created using the products!
Overall I really did like a few of the products that I receive from this box and I will probably keep my subscription for 1-2 more months and see if it really is worth it. But I do love the highlighter, eyebrow powder, and primer out of all the things I received. If you want to read more on Erin’s look and her review of the products then go ahead and read it here.
Hope you enjoyed!
